The Regional Planetary Image Facility
The Center for Earth and Planetary Studies (CEPS) at the National Air and Space Museum hosts an incredible collection of over 300,000 space-related images. Only a small sampling of these images are actually available on the website, however. Nevertheless, it is a good resource for basic images of the bodies of our solar system.

Haas Orbital Rocket Launcher
Stabilo Suborbital Manned Program
The Romanian Cosmonautics and Aeronautics Association were participants in the Ansari X-Prize Competition and remain active in the annual X Prize Cup. Their ORIZONT and STABILO are billed as Europe’s most advanced private manned space programs. This gallery includes images of these craft along with their X-Prize Demonstrators. The Demonstrator 2B rocket, equipped with world first composite materials reusable monopropellant engine ever to fly, was successfully launched on September 9, 2004 from the Cape Midia Air Force Launch Site on the Black Sea shore. STABILO, a two stages manned suborbital air launched vehicle completed three flights until now. The first stage is world largest Solar Montgolfier balloon and the second stage is a rocket powered manned spaceship. First low altitude flights of Stabilo were completed in 2006. In the same year, Mission1 was completed at an altitude of 14.700 m. In 2007 Stabilo’s Mission2 was launched at an altitude of 12.000 m above the Black Sea. The team received flight data via a communication satellite. The landing point was located at 30km (16.2miles) from the launch site.

Comet Shoemaker-Levy Home Page (JPL)
From July 16 through July 22, 1994, pieces of Comet P/Shoemaker-Levy 9 collided with Jupiter. It was the first time a collision between two solar system bodies had ever been observed, and the effects of the comet impacts on Jupiter’s atmosphere were spectacular. Scattered down this page are links to about 1500 images taken by various telescopes and spacecraft of this unique celestial collision.

China’s First Spacewalk
On September 25, 2008, China launched Shenzou VII for a three day mission. This mission marked an important milestone in the Chinese space program - China becomes only the thirn space-faring nation to sucessfully perform a space walk or extra-vehicular activity (EVA). The spacewalk lasted 20 minutes and was very limited in nature. Astronaut Zhai Zhigang, was tethered to the craft and movements were restricted to remain near the hatch. A relay satellite was also released during the mission. A photo gallery related to this mission is available courtesy of China Central Television (CCTV) providing a rare glimpse into the Chinese space program.
